Mission Trip – September 15th 2011

Duggal Big Picture’s Heather Gorman and Juan Martinez traveled to Nicaragua on September 15th, 2011 to bring supplies, Kodak digital cameras & printer, banners & signage, toys and more to the school and community of Chinandega, Nicaragua.

During their visit they went to the Fundación Chinadega (the main school that houses Duggal Big Picture’s Digital Laboratory classroom) to find out some of the needs for the campus and talk about the school’s costs and fundraiser ideas to help the organization. The Fundación Chinandega is also very involved with and helps to support two health centers, a maternity home, as well as another school called Haldo Dubón (for the children of the dump) so they looked for ways to help them as well.

The Fundación Chinandega’s campus hosts a school for the blind, a hospital, a theatre, a bazaar, and a museum for the community. They have many trade classrooms similar to our Digital Laboratory but for sewing, woodwork and more.

Duggal Big Picture Foundation so far has sponsored scholarships to the UNAN University in León and has begun efforts to raise money for the Fundación Chinandega and all who are supported by their organization.
